What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a pain free, non-invasive form of physical exfoliation with no downtime great for men and women!

Dermaplaning is performed on a cleansed, dry face, with a sterile disposable surgical scalpel. The scalpel is used at a tilted angle, to prevent cutting the skin, to "shave off dead built up skin and fuzzy hairs on the skins surface."

It is a great treatment prior to IPL Permanent Hair Removal for a smooth and silky finish to the skin and a great treatment for ben who want a defined beard or hair line!

Who Can Have Dermaplaning?

Any patient concerned with:

  • Vellus hair (Peach fuzz/baby hairs)
  • Men wanting a defined beard and hair line (Beard Sculpting)
  • Dry flaky skin
  • Dead skin build up
  • Dull complexion
  • Smoother skin texture
  • Congestion (prevention of acne)
  • Flawless smooth base to makeup application
  • Softer skin
  • Improves product/skincare penetration

All patients can have Dermaplaning. This includes all skin types, skin conditions and medical conditions.

What To Expect During / Post Treatment?

During Dermaplaning treatment:

During the treatment the aesthetician will pull the skin taught and begin the planning process. A slight abrasive sensation can be experienced during the dermaplaning process as the skin and vellus hair is being exfoliated and removed. The treatment itself is pain free and no numbing is required as we are not cutting the skin.

Depending on the patients main skin concerns, some patients can have Dermaplaning prior to a chemical peel for better absorption of the peel or prior to Red LED and Hydrating mask for extra hydration and collagen stimulation.

Post Dermaplaning Treatment:

No recovery or down time experienced with this treatment.

Immediately post treatment expect your skin to be baby soft, luminous and glowing! This is the perfect base for a flawless foundation application and is a great treatment to do before an event or night out.

Does Dermaplaning Stimulate Facial Hair Growth?

This is a common question we get asked and the answer is no! Dermaplaning does not stimulate facial hair growth! Vellus facial hair is only stimulated to grow thick or dark by a change in the patients hormone function. Vellus hair dose not grow like normal body or head hair once Dermaplaned. Not to worry we don't want all our patients to grow beards too!
